A new role is being recruited for a driven portfolio IT Manager to provide professional, team focussed, efficient and comprehensive IT service and strategy for a multi-site group for approximately 18-20 hoursper week. It will oversee the installation and ongoing maintenance of hardware & software across approximately 10 operational sites. An essential breakdown of your remit will be: 

Pre-site surveys (desktop) – connectivity, network coverage etc, to advise of correct choice of equipment and / or network provider.
Procurement, preparation and testing of equipment to include risk assessment and method statements.
Supervising installation of all equipment per agreed / optimised IT layout, including CAT 6 cables  / WiFi, power cables & switches, Routers, Starlink, Aerials, MFP’s, Screens, PC’s, microphones, camera’s etc including physical installation and profile set ups / connections.
Training of site staff on installed equipment.
Routine maintenance visits
Dismantle of all systems / equipment at close of projects
Establish an IT Budget for the year
Monthly Reports on current and forecasted projects
Respond to any incidents or requests that are escalated from the Helpdesk
Ensure that user change request processes are delivered in a timely fashion
To maintain the IT environment, providing optimal availability of IT equipment and resources to learners and staff.
Test and evaluate new technology and software.
To assist in the administration of Active Directory and Microsoft 365, making amendments to access rights and security as appropriate following agreed internal procedures.
To assist in the build, maintenance and deployment of PC’s
To ensure effective security arrangements are in place including patches, virus protection and the security of physical devices.
The successful applicant will have proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues, expertise in configuring and managing network devices, including routers, switches and firewalls with knowledge of operating systems such as Windows and IOS. Experience with cloud services, understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices and the ability to set up and maintain VPNs, LANs and WANs is also important. You will possess the capability to perform regular system updates, patches and backups and monitor system performance.
